Zach's carnival birthday party

I had so much fun planning his birthday party. It's just too bad the weather wasn't the greatest that day and only a few kids came but they all had fun anyways!

The invitation.

The bouncy house from All About Bouncing.

The candy buffet. The kids get to choose and bag their own candy. Their parents must've loved me that day, "Here's your sugar-induced, hopped up and hyper kid, thanks for coming" : )

The Minburn Hall, all decorated carnival style. We had these tents from when I did summer outdoor farmer's markets. I thought it would be a good idea to make it into food and refreshments tents.

The centerpiece. I inflated 20 balloons in half an hour. Will got home from work and saw me sitting by the dining table, with hands on my chest. I thought I ran out of air, my chest hurt so much. I shouldn't have cheaped out on the air pump they sell at the dollar store!

The food table. We had nachos, mini corndogs and hotdogs. A healthy well-balanced meal! : )

The refreshments table. We had lemonade and Chubby cola (now with 25 % less sugar!) and a POPCORN MACHINE!!! I finally got one from Kijiji.

The games and prizes.

The cake. It's supposed to be a roller coaster cake but I only had a few hours to make it so...yeah.

Happy 7th birthday Zach!

Wow, that was 7 years ago! I remember unsuccessfully waking up Will in the middle of the night when my water broke. He thought it was one of those false alarms again. My kids tend to come out earlier than their due date. Kyle was 3 months premature and Zach was 3 weeks. Happy birthday to one of my greatest accomplishments in life. We love you so much!!!

Journey to a 30 lb. lighter me

It kinda just creeps up on you doesn't it? One week you're a pound heavier and you think, it's just a pound. Then it's 5 pounds and you think, oh maybe it's just water weight. Then it's 10 pounds and you still think, hmmm maybe it's just the double big mac meal I've eaten. But what do you say to 30 pounds??? I can't believe it! Okay maybe I can. It's not like I woke up one morning and gained 30 pounds, but still. Wow, that's a lot! So I've decided to go on a diet (or as some people call it, a lifestyle change) starting...(as I check my schedule) January 17(I have a party to organize next Saturday. It would just be impolite to not eat the food you serve right?)Anyways, I thought January 17 sounds like a good date. See, just looking at that date probably made me lose a pound already.

Why, hello world!

I'm starting a blog again. I like the illusion that I'm famous and people WANT to read all about me! haha! Like my life is that exciting! I mean what could possibly happen in small town Alberta that is worth writing about? I remember when we fist moved here, Kyle and Zach brought home a dead, flattened snake. I was told by the neighborhood kids that there are in fact a lot of snakes (tiny ones) in the area. Bull! I've been here for two and a half years already. I have not seen a single snake. Skunks, yeah. Maybe even a wolf or a cayote or two, but never a snake. I was so worried too when they first told me that. Thinking to myself, what have we gotten ourselves into? I can't believe I was tricked by a couple of ten year olds. Also, remember that one Christmas Will and I drove for hours looking for a Christmas tree to cut since he said " We're in the country now, we don't buy Christmas trees from the store, we cut our OWN Christmas tree!" Yeah, we ended up going to Home Depot to buy a $30.00 tree since apparently, all the nice trees are IN somebody else's yards. But now, if you're nice, I can tell you exactly where to go to cut your own Christmas tree. We still buy ours at the store, I'm just saying, I know where to GET them now. I was excited and a little apprehensive when we first moved here, to a small town with only 65 residents (nope, not a typo. I counted, it's 65!) I live and breathe the city. It's funny how the things you're used to all your life, in just a few months become just a shadow of what you used to be. I love living here now. Sure I still miss the conveniences of the city, but Ebay and online shopping are our savior, my friends.

So here's my life, I'm a city girl countryfied...
